# Discord phone verification failed

Discord demands a phone when a server requires it or when your account was flagged. Its check is stricter than most people expect.

## Why does Discord say my phone number is invalid?

Discord rejects VoIP ranges and numbers already linked to another Discord account. Use a physical-SIM number from a country Discord accepts (US physical SIM works best), enter it with the correct country code and type the 6-digit code from your dashboard. A refused number is not charged.

## When Discord asks

- Joining a server with phone verification required.
- After a report or unusual login.
- When creating several accounts from one device.

## What works

US and UK physical-SIM numbers, request once, then verify. One Discord account per number; Discord unlinks the number from the previous account if reused.

## FAQ

**Does Discord accept numbers from any country?** Most, but VoIP detection is global. The Discord page in the catalog shows current rates.

**Does Discord accept virtual numbers?** Rarely; it checks the line type. Use physical SIM.

**Can one number verify two Discord accounts?** No. Linking it to a second account removes it from the first.

**Why does Discord ask for a phone at all?** Server owners can require it, and Discord asks after spam reports or unusual logins.
