# SMS verification API

Everything the dashboard does, from code. Same prices, no API surcharge, and a drop-in endpoint for tools that already speak the SMS-Activate protocol.

## How do I get an SMS verification code through the API?

Create a key in your dashboard after the first top-up, call the endpoint that reserves a number for a service and country, show the number to your flow, then poll the order until the SMS text is returned. Finish the order to release the number, or cancel it before any SMS arrives to free the frozen amount.

## What the API covers

- Catalog: services, countries, live prices and success rates.
- Orders: get a number, poll the SMS, request another SMS, cancel, finish, report a bad number.
- Rentals: start, list messages, extend.
- Account: balance (available and held in open orders). Statements and key changes stay in the dashboard.
- Status: poll the order and read the SMS as soon as it arrives (no webhook).

## SMS-Activate-compatible endpoint

Registration software and bots built for the SMS-Activate protocol (getNumber, getStatus, setStatus, getBalance, getPrices) work against SMS Nitro by changing the base URL and the key. If your tool has a 'custom SMS-Activate provider' field, point it at us.

## SDKs and examples

Official clients for Python and Node, plus a Postman collection with every call. Examples cover the full loop: reserve, wait for the code with a timeout, finish or cancel.

## Limits and pricing

Buying is limited to 500 purchases per minute per account (and per IP on REST); resending an SMS to 30 per minute per IP. Polling every few seconds is fine. Prices are identical to the dashboard. Each account has one active key: generating a new one revokes the old one. High volume? Talk to support.

## FAQ

**Do I need a special plan for the API?** No. Any account with a top-up can create a key.

**Can I use my existing SMS-Activate scripts?** Yes, through the compatible endpoint: change the URL and the key.

**Is there a sandbox?** Use a small top-up and cheap services to test; numbers that receive no SMS are never charged.
