SMS Nitro

Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before and after their first number, grouped by topic. If yours is not here, support answers from the dashboard or by email.

What is SMS Nitro and how does it work?

SMS Nitro is a paid marketplace of private temporary phone numbers for SMS verification. You top up a balance, pick an app and a country, get a number reserved for 20 minutes, enter it in the app and read the code in your dashboard. The price is frozen at purchase and charged only when the SMS arrives.

Basics

What is a temporary phone number?

A real mobile number reserved for you for a short time, 20 minutes on SMS Nitro, to receive one verification SMS. After that it returns to the pool. It is not a fake number: carriers issue it; only your access time is temporary.

Is it free?

No. Numbers are private and paid per delivered code or per rental period. That is what keeps them working where public lists are blocked, and why nobody else can read your code.

Do I need an app or a SIM card?

No. Everything runs in the browser: you see the number and the SMS in your dashboard. Developers can use the API instead.

How fast does the code arrive?

Usually within seconds of the app sending it. The dashboard refreshes by itself; carrier delays of up to two minutes happen occasionally.

Can I receive a second SMS on the same number?

Yes, while the number is active, at no extra cost. For codes days or weeks later, rent the number instead.

Can I make or receive calls?

No. SMS Nitro numbers receive SMS only. If an app offers verification by call, choose the SMS option.

Prices, billing and refunds

How much does a number cost?

From a few cents per verification depending on the app and the country; physical-SIM numbers for strict apps cost a few dollars. The exact price is shown before you confirm and the public pages list fixed reference prices.

What if the code never arrives?

You are not charged. The amount is frozen when you take the number and released back to your balance automatically when the reservation ends or when you cancel.

Can I cancel a number?

Yes, about two minutes after taking it, as long as no SMS has arrived. The frozen amount returns immediately.

Is there a subscription or a monthly fee?

No. You top up when you want, from $5, and the balance never expires.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay) through Stripe with a 10% processing fee, and crypto (USDC or SOL on Solana) with no fee. Brazilian accounts can also pay with Pix.

Are there bonuses or volume deals?

There is a welcome bonus on the first top-up and bonus balance on deposits of $10 or more. If your monthly volume is high, talk to support. See the loyalty page.

Can I withdraw my balance?

Balance is prepaid credit for the service. Unused deposited balance can be refunded to the original payment method case by case; bonus credit cannot. See the refund policy.

Apps and countries

Which apps can I verify?

700+ services: WhatsApp, Telegram, Google, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Discord, X, OpenAI, Microsoft, Apple, Tinder, PayPal, Amazon, Uber, Steam and more. Each app has a page with the best countries and the code format.

Does it work with WhatsApp?

Yes. WhatsApp rejects most VoIP ranges, so pick a country marked physical SIM. Set two-step verification right after sign-up so the account stays yours after the number expires.

Does it work with Google and Gmail?

Yes, with physical-SIM numbers from countries Google accepts (US, UK, Germany, Indonesia and the Philippines score best). Add a recovery email and an authenticator app afterwards.

Do you have US numbers?

Yes, both virtual and physical-SIM pools. Physical-SIM US numbers pass Google, WhatsApp, PayPal and most bank checks and receive short-code SMS.

What is the difference between physical-SIM and virtual numbers?

Physical-SIM numbers are real carrier lines and pass the line-type checks of strict apps. Virtual numbers are cheaper and fine for most messaging and social apps. The catalog labels both.

The app says the number cannot be used for verification. Why?

The app refused the number type before sending anything, usually VoIP or an over-used range. Nothing is charged. Take a number from the physical-SIM pool or another country and try once.

Which country should I choose?

If the app requires a local number, that country. Otherwise the one with the best price and recent results on the app page; the catalog shows the live price and success rate before you confirm.

Rentals

Can I keep a number for longer?

Rent it for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days with unlimited incoming SMS, and extend it before it expires.

When should I rent instead of buying a one-time number?

Whenever the account will ask for an SMS again: two-factor logins, WhatsApp Business, marketplaces, reinstalling an app, using it on another device.

What happens when the rental ends?

The number is released and may return to the pool. Renew before expiry to keep it, and set an authenticator app or email as a backup second factor on important accounts.

Account, API and support

Do I need to give my phone number to register?

No. Email and password, or Google sign-in.

Is my code visible to anyone else?

No. The number is reserved for your account and the SMS appears only in your dashboard or through your API key. Nothing is published.

Is there an API?

Yes: REST plus an SMS-Activate-compatible endpoint, so existing tools work with a key change. Keys are issued after the first top-up, with no API surcharge.

How do I contact support?

From the dashboard (tickets linked to your orders) or by email at [email protected]. Replies usually take a few hours.

Safety and legal

Is using a temporary number legal?

Yes in most countries, as long as you follow the terms of the service you register on and do not use it for fraud, impersonation or evading bans. See the acceptable use policy.

Is it a fake number?

No. It is a real carrier number reserved for you during the reservation. What is temporary is your access, not the number.

Who operates SMS Nitro?

B. FLORES ALVARIZA LTDA (CNPJ 62.639.487/0001-04), Pelotas, Brazil, the company behind other verification services since 2025.
